Retrofit Insulation
Ceilings require a minimum of R3.3 insulation and it needs to meet NZS4246:2016 building code. An exception is availble for historic installs that took place before 2016. In this situation the insulation needs to be a minimum 120mm throughout. NZS4246 doesn't apply for these historic installs.
Underfloors must have a minimum of R1.3 with no exceptions.

Ground Vapor Barriers
If your rental has an enclosed subfloor it is required to have GVB fitted. This is one of the most commonly failed areas in Healthy Home Assessments.
To comply with Healthy Homes the GVB must be installed correctly which means it has the correct overlaps, ground pinning every meter, runs up the walls and piles and is correctly taped.
It's tricky to install so let the experts do it for you. We have installed over 300,000 m2 of GVB in Christchurch to date. All expertly laid.
